Actinidia deliciosa ‘Atlas’ is a decorative male kiwi plant. It does not produce kiwis, but it does produce good pollen for pollinating female kiwi varieties such as Actinidia deliciosa ‘Jenny’ or ‘Hayward’. This species is therefore particularly suitable for promoting pollination in other species and thus contributing to better fruit. The plant has beautiful white flowers in May-June. It is a fast-growing, climbing plant and is best placed against a climbing frame, fence or pergola. The plant can also be placed in a pot on the balcony or terrace. The kiwi plant survives well in our climate and is Hardy to -12° C. When the plant is not yet mature, it is best to cover it in winter, when there is severe frost. The kiwi plant needs a warm and sunny spot. The growth of this garden plant is extremely strong. Regular pruning prevents the plant from growing disorderly and stimulates its flowering.
