‘Celastrus Orbiculatus’ is a fast-growing evergreen climber also known as ‘black-oil-tree’. The climber loses its leaves in the winter so it cannot call itself evergreen. When the Celastrus has reached the stage of maturity, it can reach about 4 metres in height. From May to July you can enjoy red flowers that attract bees and butterflies. After flowering, around October to February, the tree strangler produces red and yellow berries. Be careful not to grow the Celastrus Orbiculatus in a tree or shrub. As the name ‘Tree Strangler’ suggests, this beautiful climber strangles other plants with its grip.
