Miscanthus Sinensis ‘Variegatus’ has very variegated leaves with white streaks. These stripes become more visible when exposed to the sun. Throughout the year it is an attractive ornamental grass for your garden, if the Miscanthus has finished flowering the plumes and leaves retain their ornamental value even in winter. Miscanthus sinensis ‘Variegatus’ flowers from August to October, with first brownish red plumes, which turn creamy white to silvery white later in the autumn. This beautiful reed prefers a sunny spot and a well-drained, moderately fertile soil. Miscanthus Sinensis Variegatus’ is Hardy, but loses its leaves. In March you can cut back the plant to 10cm above the ground, after which it will sprout again. This species looks good in groups in a border, but is also beautiful in a pot on the balcony or terrace.
