The ‘Miscanthus Sinensis Yakushima Dwarf’ is an ornamental grass with an upright growth. The ‘Yakushima Dwarf’ remains somewhat lower than most ‘Miscanthus’ species. The height of this plant is between 80 and 100 cm. He has a narrow gray-green leaf with a white centre vein. This beautiful reed flowers in August and September with beige-white panicles that later colour to light brown. The plumes rise gracefully above the leaves and give your garden that little bit extra. It prefers a sunny spot in well-drained soil. Leave the leaves and stems on in winter and do not prune until early spring. Pruning can be done up to 10 cm above the ground. The branches protect the plant from freezing in winter.
