Passiflora caerulea’ is a climbing plant with beautiful ivory-white-blue passion flowers. This is the best known variety because it is best suited for our climate and reasonably Hardy. You can expect flowers in the Passion Flower from June to September. The Passion Flower is a real fair-weather bloomer. On warm days with lots of light and sun, the buds will pop open. On colder and darker days, few flowers will pop open. It is a real climber and therefore likes some support when growing on a climbing frame or fence. The passion flower is not a difficult plant. It is relatively insensitive to the well-known plant diseases, grows quickly and is not very demanding as far as soil and nutrition are concerned. However, ‘Passiflora caerulea’ prefers a sunny spot. It flowers more abundantly in the sun than in a place with more shade. Do not be afraid to prune the plant back when it gets too big and too wild. It is a strong and fast-growing plant that will suffer little from this. It may happen that this tropical climber dies above the ground after a harsh winter. In that case, cut the plant off completely. There is a good chance that it will start growing again from the roots in the spring.
