‘Ribes Nigrum Noirama’ is a black currant. The currant bush is medium-sized and loses its leaves in the winter. The plant is best known for the Cassis drink that is made from the berries. This berry species produces a large number of berries when young. The black currant blooms in April with green-white flowers in bunches. The fruits hang in long bunches and are black. They are very rich in vitamin C and minerals. They can be eaten loose but are best enjoyed when processed in juice or jam. The shrub needs direct sunlight for optimal yield and sweeter berries. The berries can be picked from the end of June. Pruning is best done after picking time, then only remove the dead branches. It is easy to maintain and gives fruit after one year.
