Ribes rubrum Jonkheer van Tets’ is a red currant. The shrub grows vigorously and has a Rich fruit yield. It is one of the earliest ripening red currants, the berries are already ripe around the end of June. The berries grow in long bunches and have a sour, but fresh taste. You can eat them for example in flans or as jam. The shrub flowers in spring with small green-white flowers. Pruning influences the quantity and size of the berries and is therefore important. You can prune the bush in early spring. To keep the bush compact, you can prune the dead branches to a healthy side branch. It is a self-pollinating shrub and attracts butterflies and bees.
