Ribes uva-crispa Hinnonmaki Röd’ is a red gooseberry or also called gooseberry. The shrub is prickly and grows to 75 cm in height. The leaves are softly haired on the underside. The gooseberry blooms in April with inconspicuous greenish flowers which are attractive to bees and bumblebees. The fruits are medium-sized, round and dark red in colour and can be picked around July and August. The berries are deliciously juicy and have a fresh and slightly sour taste. They are formed in bunches and are immediately edible. Be careful of the sharp thorns on the bush when picking! The shrub is resistant to frost so it will certainly survive the winter. In the winter, it loses its leaves and this is the right time to prune it. It prefers an open, sunny and not too humid soil.
