‘Ribes uva-crispa Spine free’ is a gooseberry with light red fruits. The shrub is practically thornless, which makes picking the fruit easy. The gooseberry flowers in April with inconspicuous greenish flowers that are attractive to bees and bumblebees. The fruits are medium-sized, round and light red and can be picked in July. The berries are deliciously juicy and have a fresh and slightly sour taste. They are formed in clusters and are immediately edible. The shrub is frost-resistant, so it will certainly survive the winter. In the winter it loses its leaves and that is also the right time to prune it. It prefers open, sunny and not too humid soil.
