‘Rubus Idaeus Willamette’ is a summer raspberry and therefore has ripe fruit in June and July. The shrub is prickly and takes up a lot of space, but because of this it also has extra large fruits. The fruits are dark red, large and firm with a sweet taste. They contain a lot of vitamin C, minerals and antioxidants. The raspberry can be eaten fresh, but can also be frozen or used to make delicious jam or liqueur. After the harvest, it is wise to remove the branches that have borne fruit so that new young branches can grow in the new year. It is best to place it near a wire netting or fence so that the rather weak stems of the shrub can be fastened. Birds also love raspberries, so protect the bush by placing a net, for example.
